MAIN ENTRANCE CLOSURE
***UPDATE***
We have engaged the services of the city’s recommended contractor to reconstruct the
landing at the south entrance. The contractor is prioritizing our project and estimated
he can start in the third week of November. The rubberized coating will be re-applied
by the original contractor after the cement work is completed.

***UPDATE***
A contractor has been in to evaluate the entrance landing. We are waiting to hear back from him on what he has found and a timeline to have repairs completed. We will keep you updated on progress.

Please be advised that the main door and wheelchair ramp has been deemed to be unsafe for use and accordingly has been closed and marked off with caution tape. Until further notice, we will be using the door at the north end of the building as our main entrance. This will unfortunately mean difficult entry for those of us that use walkers and the building will be in accessible for anyone using a wheelchair. We don’t have an estimate of how long it will take to alleviate this problem, but we will provide an update as soon as we have a remediation plan in place.
For those of you who want the background information, we had a crew on site today, investigating
the problem that has resulted in lifting of the rubber coating right near the main entrance door. When we stripped back the coating, we discovered that the concrete underneath had disintegrated to the point of appearing to be just gravel. The remaining concrete is very soft to a depth of at least halfway through the slab. This has left us with concerns for the structural integrity of the entire entrance. Until we can get a contractor to examine the ramp and landing for structural integrity, we have acted with an abundance of caution in closing that entrance.
On behalf of the executive and directors, please accept our apology for any inconvenience and hardship that this may cause for our members. We will be working diligently to find a solution and take remedial action as soon as possible.
